Riviera Hotel, Palm Springs, CA- tribute concert for Don Tosti, who had just passed away.  Mark Guerrero performed Louis Jordan's "Let the Good Times Roll," Don Tosti's "Chavelita," and Lalo Guerrero's "Los Chucos Suaves."  Lalo came up and sang the latter song with Mark.  It was their last perfomance together.  Lalo passed away six months later.  Ry Cooder played guitar in the band on the set (2004)

Dodge Theater, Phoenix, Arizona- concert with Mark Guerrero & Radio Aztlán for the induction ceremony for the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame.  Lalo Guerrero, Waylon Jennings, and Marty Robbins were posthumously inducted.  Glen Campbell, Jessi Colter and 16 others were also inducted.  Also on the performing bill were Jessi Colter, Dyke & the Blazers (of "Funky Funky Broadway" fame), and others.  Mark Guerrero performed two Lalo Guerrero songs, "Los Chucos Suaves" and "Tin Marin de do Pingue" and sat in on the finale with Dyke & the Blazers.  (2005)

The Hop, Puente Hills, CA- concert as a member of reunited 70s Chicano rock band, Yaqui.  Performed set, which included six Yaqui songs, two Mark Guerrero songs ("On the Boulevard" and "I'm Brown"), and the Lalo Guerrero classic, "Los Chucos Suaves."  Mark Guerrero sang lead on the latter three songs. (2005)

Fox Tucson Theater, Tucson, Arizona- concert with four piece acoustic group for the Puro Mexicano Film Festival, group members were Mark Guerrero, Tim Wiedenkeller, Jeff Rodenkirk, and Debbie Daly.
Performed Mark Guerrero's "Mexican Moon" and "The Ballad of Lalo Guerrero, Tim Wiedenkeller's "The New Old Pueblo," and Lalo Guerrero's "Tacos for Two," "Los Chucos Suaves," and "El Chicano."  My brother Dan sang lead on "El Chicano."  The concert followed the screening of the documentary, "Lalo Guerrero: The Original Chicano" (2006)

UCR Palm Desert Graduate Center, University of California, Riverside - (Palm Desert campus)- concert with a three piece acoustic group for the gala for the Lalo Guerrero Film & Arts Festival, group members were Mark Guerrero, Alex Armstrong, and Lorenzo Martinez.  Performed Mark Guerrero's "The Ballad of Lalo Guerrero" and "Pre-Columbian Dream," as well as Lalo Guerrero's "El Corrido de Delano," "Los Chucos Suaves," "Tacos for Two," and "El Chicano."  Also on the bill were pioneer Chicano rockers, El Chicano.  Mark played guitar and sang the co-lead vocal with El Chicano on their hit version of "Brown Eyed Girl."  The concert followed the screening of the documentary, "Lalo Guerrero: The Original Chicano." (2007)

Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles, CA - performed at the 7th Annual Cesar E. Chavez Awards Dinner with an acoustic trio.  Mark sang his song "The Ballad of Lalo Guerrero," and Lalo Guerrero's "El Corrido de Delano" and "Los Chucos Suaves," backed by Alex Armstrong and Lorenzo Martinez.  The trio then backed Mark's brother Dan on Lalo Guerrero's "El Chicano."  Arnold Scwartzenegger received an award and spoke at the event.  Lalo Guerrero received a posthumous award also.  (2007)

Marin County Civic Center, San Rafael, CA - did a lecture/solo concert and screening of "Lalo Guerrero:  The Original Chicano."  Performed Mark & Lalo Guerrero compositions.  (2007)

Gibson Amphitheater, Universal City, CA- performed background vocals with El Chicano at the benefit for the rebuilding of the Garfield High School Auditoruim.  Also on the bill were Los Lobos, Tierra, Little Willie G., Little Joe y La Familia, and Upground.  (2007)

"Chicano Music Chronicles"- My own radio show on crnlive.com, which started in November of 2005.  The show features the music of Chicano music pioneers and legends, with in studio interviews with the artists in most cases.  There is one show per month, which airs once a week for that month.

Lalo Guerrero: The Original Chicano- music supervisor and wrote and performed an original song, "The Ballad of Lalo Guerrero."  The documentary aired on PBS nationally in the fall of 2006 and is released on DVD, available at www.originalchicano.com.  (2006)

MARK GUERRERO ARCHIVE

Experience Music Project Museum, Seattle, Washington- loaned ten flyers, five band cards, a radio music chart from the 1960s music scene in East Los Angeles.  Also loaned several album covers to be scanned for the "album wall."

"El Cantante"- a movie based on the true story of the King of Salsa, Hector Lavoe, who started the salsa movement in 1975 and brought it to the United States.  Provided images of flyers and posters for scenes in the film. (2006)

"In Thee Midnite Hour"- CD compilation by the legendary East L.A. band of the 60s, Thee Midniters, released on Norton Records.  Provided images and flyers from the period for use on thed CD and vinyl album cover design. (2006)
